Headband Made from Jorts

Hi Friends!

Remember those cute diy polka-dot jeans you made this winter. Well, when you decide to cut them off and make them into jorts this summer don’t toss the extra denim fabric.  These polka-dots were too cute not to turn them into something new.

Jeans + Cut off into shorts = Jorts

DIY Headband made from jorts by Paper & Fox.

Let me preface that I am no stranger to jorts.   When I was a little girl, Dirty Dancing was my favorite movie.  I sat on my sofa and observed Jennifer Grey wearing jorts while rehearsing the “I had the time of my life” dance.  That afternoon I made my first pair of jorts.  I didn’t become a great dancer, but I fell in love with jorts. Headband made form Jorts After cutting the legs off my jeans I decided that I wanted to reuse the denim fabric. Why not?  I cut the denim in strips. Headband made form Jorts With my sewing machine, I attached the strips of denim together into a long strand.       Headband made form JortsI folded “right sides” together and sewed along the edges.  The denim is like a tube of fabric. Headband made form Jorts I reversed the denim tube and had my headband.  I left the ends unfinished because and like jorts… the headband will get better with age.

Proof of my love of jorts

I couple years ago my husband I attended a Jorts themed Birthday Party. We might have been a little too excited to attend.

I grew up wearing jorts way before they were called jorts – the shorter, the more fringed, the better (the 70’s)! :) Love the headband and the pic of you and your hubs!

Gahhh I should send this to my sister! I threw down jorts in Scrabble when I was home last month and her, her boyfriend, and my brother had never heard of jorts! Thankfully Google had a wealth of pictures and info so I could prove I didn’t make it up. Followed you on Bloglovin’ and stopping by from the #tribedare
