Wallflower

Hi Friends,

Do you ever walk around your house and think to yourself, “what can I make with what I already have?” That is what I did today. So, I was shuffling through our outdoor storage room.

I came across a random piece of board that was previously painted. This is an example of a normal thing that you will find at my home. Random, and sometimes abandoned projects.

With spring and warm weather on my mind I got to painting.  Sometimes I plan out paintings, but today I just let it unfold.

First I painted a bright yellow background all over the board.  Then I started painting flowers.  I continued to paint flowers with bright colors.  I liked the retro vibe that was beginning to take shape.  By now, I figured out what I was going to do with this piece.  I love beautiful and pretty paintings, but snarky and sarcastic pieces really make me smile.

I traced the letters “W, A, L, and L” down the board.  This little painting was going named “wallflower”.

I think the final painting came out great. I love the contrast of the loud colors of the flowers with the idea of being a “wallflower”.

Just a thought  – the term wallflower is usually used to describe a loner or shy individual.  However, in my opinion these types of people are usually the most interesting.  What are your thoughts? Any wallflowers out there want to chime in?
