Get Lucky with Simple Shamrock Art

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset

I am partial to recessive genes.  These genes are usually viewed as a symbol of luck, like having red hair or an extra leaf on on a plant, such as a 4 leaf clover.  Both traits work well in decorating for St. Patrick’s Day.   Here is a tutorial on how to create simple shamrock art.  Sometimes when you over decorate for St. Patrick’s Day and similar holidays it can be a little obnoxious. Keep it simple and pretty and embrace the lucky four leaf clover.

Here is how I started…

Simple Shamrock Art

I used a canvas board and primed it with white house paint.

I cut out a heart from card stock and located a pencil.

Simple Shamrock Art

I placed the heart on the canvas and traced the heart with the pencil.  I arranged the heart shapes to give an impression of a 4 leaf clover pattern.

With green acrylic paint I painted the hearts.

Once the paint was dry I used my gold metallic sharpie and  drew little “x’s” all over one clover.

finished shamrock

The finished piece is clean, simple and pretty.

I love the simplicity of the artwork. I agree too many decorations for St Patty’s and similar holidays can be aggravating.

Lovely…and it would make a fun t-shirt stencil craft for the kiddos, too.
