I enjoy going to hardware stores by myself. I don’t like following my husband around the hardware store searching for a particular type of nail or light bulb. I like to walk slowly through the isles and look at my creative options. I have been really into making jewelery out of rope lately. A little while back I made a necklace out of rope that I wear at least once a week. I have been wanting to make a bracelet out of rope and add interesting hardware as the fastener. I like these projects for a few reasons. I like mixing different materials together, I get a bracelet out of the end result, but most of all a rope bracelet is stronger than my sterling silver one. My toddler can literally try to rip this off my wrist without breaking the bracelet.
Rope Bracelet…from a hardware store
- Nylon rope
- Quick Link Fastener
- Embroidery thread
- Hot-glue Gun and glue sticks
I spray-painted one of the fasteners gold. Silver or Gold… a girl has to have options.
I measured the rope 2x’s the desired length that I wanted. With my hot-glue gun I attached the ends of the rope together.
I folded the rope in half. Then, I attached the ends to the opposite side of the rope with my glue-gun.
The rope will resemble a bow.
I picked out a pretty deep purple embroidery thread to add to this bracelet.
In the center of the rope bow, I wrapped the thread very tightly around the rope.
I continued to wrap until I was satisfied with the look of the purple. Then, with a tiny drop of hot glue, I secured the end of the purple thread to the bracelet. I love when I can actually complete a project in one sitting. Don’t you?
I hope that you enjoyed this project as much as I did. Next time you are in the hardware store look around and take inventory of the cool supplies and tools that could be used in your next project. You might find yourself saving money compared to similar items you would purchase at a craft store.
I hope that you have a good and creative rest of the week!
