Dark denim jeans are a wardrobe staple. I don’t treat myself to new jeans very often, so I really want to make them last as long as possible. The indigo dye used in the denim making process can fade quickly or transfer onto other objects. It is a bummer when you discover your new jeans left a bottom shaped blue stain in your driver’s seat. Indigo dye can usually be washed off, but it is really annoying. My trick for keeping my dark denim from fading is to soak the jeans in a vinegar and water bath. I prepare a 50/50 solution with white vinegar and water and let them sit a few hours. Then I wash the jeans in cold water. This really does help.
