Back to School {Money and Time Saving Tips}

Hi Friends!

My oldest son, Knox, will be entering Kindergarten this year. Wowza, it is hard to believe. We have visited the school, attended rising kindergarten parties and received the dreaded  school supply list. In all honesty, I have no interest in carting a toddler and 5-year-old around in a store to locate a certain type of pencil or glue. No thank you.

Back to school money saving tips.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy shopping, but it seems like shopping for school supplies  online is your best bet.  I have  put together a located a few tips and ways that you can save a buck or two while  gathering up school supplies without battling the masses in a store.

Prepackaged School Supplies

I was lucky enough  that Knox’s school uses EduKit, a school supply and delivery company. I simply ordered a  supply kit for Kindergarten tailored to the needs of his school. It will be ready and waiting for him on his desk for the 1st day of school. Awesome! There will be no chance for his little brother to get his hands on a fresh blue marker and tag the wall.

Online School Supplies

If your school doesn’t have a contract with EduKit check out the Back to School section at Amazon.  You can search for your school and purchase supplies directly from Amazon.  Sweet! I love Amazon. I seriously purchase toilet paper, dog food and clothes all in a few clicks.

Get A Free Kindle App For Almost Any Device

Another way to save money is to download and Read eBooks using the FREE Kindle Reading App on Most Devices. I downloaded Kindle to our family ipad and love it! I know that some schools use ipads in the classrooms. This app could come in handy…and it is free.

Rent eTextbooks

If you have kid’s heading into college consider getting the Free Kindle Reading App, then  Rent eTextbooks .    You can spend a ridiculous amount of money on books. If you are able to download a book for a fraction of the price, then do it.

Sell Your Old Textbooks

Also, sell those text books that you purchased last year. Amazon has a program where they purchase used textbooks.Shop Amazon – Sell Us Your Books – Get up to 80% Back.

Hunt For Deals on Clothes

Knox’s school is a uniform school. White polo and navy pants. Easy!!!  I have been hunting for those items online for months. I have found that searching in the “School Uniform” section when online shopping doesn’t always produce the best deal.  Instead , I search for “white shirt” and locate lower priced white polo shirts. I do the same with “navy pants”.

If your child does not attend a uniform school  scour the web for sales.  From now until school starts the sales will be everywhere.

Check out Facebook Markets in your area. You can find fantastic deals on new or barely worn clothing items.

Hold off on buying a trendy lunchbox or shoes. You never know what the definition of “what’s cool” will be by the second week of school.

I hope that you find these back to school tips useful. Good luck my friends!
